When I was a little girl, I loved dolls and playing pretend. So, when the opportunity to be a puppeteer came along, it seemed an obvious match. There is something magical about them. I have seen teenagers blossom, who before had been so shy. They step behind the puppet stage and slide a little creature on their hand and become a “character”. Being the puppet loosens parts inside that surprise me. Puppets have the freedom to say things that I might not say...but wish I could! They catch attention and when they are really done well...they are truly an art form.
